Fennec Fox Drawing for 5th graders

The fennec fox is the first long term drawing project all 5th graders must do.  After weeks of learning the rules of creating envelopes and the block-in process on silhouettes, we move into the realm of photo references.  The fennec fox is the first animal we will draw and definitely not the last.  It is the first time many 5th graders realize that they really can draw anything!

So here is the complete video tutorial as well as the some visual aides to get you started into shading as well.

I have no idea who to credit for this photograph.

This is the complete 4 step block-in process.  Using straight long sweeping lines that do not damage the paper we start with the envelope.  Then we move into shorter and shorter lines until our fox appears before our eyes.
